In a surprising collaboration that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the official release, "A strange encounter draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of forbidden practices and fearsome changes reverberate through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine sect.

The adventure focuses on "strange experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Features

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana together with several artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This patch also introduces the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Japanese Animation Crossovers

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series formerly featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
